Cavalcade of the Knights of Saint Anthony the Abbot

The 2025 edition of the Feast of Saint Anthony the Abbot confirmed the vitality of a deeply felt tradition in Mattinata, in the Gargano. As every year, the Mattinata a Cavallo association organized the gathering and the horse parade through the town center, involving riders and breeders of different generations, including those from neighboring towns and nearby regions.

The central moment was, as is customary, the blessing of the animals on the parvis of the Abbey Church of Santa Maria della Luce, in honor of Saint Anthony the Abbot, patron saint of domestic animals and the farming world. The day concluded with the return of the procession and a convivial moment of music and dance, celebrating the rural roots of the Gargano promontory.
