Casa del Quartetto

The 2025 edition of Casa del Quartetto animated the Chiostri di San Pietro in Reggio Emilia from June 3 to 13. Over the ten days of residency, young quartets and faculty quartets performed with expansive programs, from Viennese classicism to 20th-century avant-garde: Béla Bartók (String Quartet No. 2), Franz Schubert (String Quartet No. 12), Anton Webern, Ludwig van Beethoven (String Quartets No. 1 and No. 16), Henry Purcell, and Benjamin Britten (String Quartet No. 2).

The highlight was the final concert on Friday, June 13, featuring the Alioth, Iro, Kyan, and Obliquo quartets, directed by Sara Caneva, who premiered "Soglie dell'ombra" for four amplified string quartets. Organized by the Fondazione I Teatri, the event reaffirmed its role as an international laboratory for chamber music in the heart of Emilia-Romagna.
