Parade of Sardinian masks, inflatables, and street food in the heart of the city
In Cologno Monzese, in the province of Milan, Carnival has its own unique identity. Alongside the inflatables, music, and street food you expect from a local festival, the most anticipated moment is the parade of typical Sardinian carnival masks, brought to Lombardy by the Sardinian Circle 'Sa Pintadera in Su Nuraghe'. It's a rare opportunity to see up close the archaic costumes of the island's carnival rites, accompanied by dances and performances by the Sardinian community of Cologno.
The event takes place in the large M2 Cologno Centro parking lot, along Via Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa, very convenient to reach by metro. The afternoon opens with jugglers, acrobats, and street artists, continues with the Sardinian parade and a parade of cosplayers and cartoon characters, much loved by children, and concludes with the award for the most beautiful mask.
Between one parade and another, there are plenty of inflatables, itinerant shows, and street food stalls, to transform the afternoon into a true community celebration. Admission is free.
The event is organized by the Municipality of Cologno Monzese together with the Pro Loco, the city's pastoral community, and the Sardinian Circle, a sign of how Carnival has become a moment of meeting between the different souls of this city in the Milanese hinterland.
For Carnival 2026, Cologno Monzese gathers on Saturday, February 21, in the large M2 Cologno Centro parking area. The formula that has made this festival unique is confirmed: the parade of typical Sardinian carnival masks, with traditional dances and costumes curated by the Sardinian Circle 'Sa Pintadera in Su Nuraghe'. Alongside, inflatables for children, street artists, street food, and the award for the most beautiful mask. Admission is free.
