Edition 2025 — Cantè j'euv
In 2025, Cantè j'euv returned to Calamandrana on Friday, April 11, starting at 8:30 PM from Piazza Dante, in front of the town hall. The group of singers began their tour from Viale Moraglio, performing the traditional song that invites people to donate eggs, money, bread, and cured meats. Most of the families in the center participated with enthusiasm, offering a taste and a glass of wine at every stop, while some scenes of residents pretending not to want to open their windows added a touch of street theatre.
The event concluded in the courtyard of the Milano farm-butcher shop with traditional music and dancing. The evening was accompanied by the folk group Balacanta, with Marco Voglino on accordion, Franco Malberto on hurdy-gurdy, and Valerio Franco on flutes and bagpipes. The lyrics of the begging song were collected from the memories of the village elders, with rehearsals curated by Valter Bosca on guitar. The event was organized by the Associazione Le Colline della Cultura with the Municipal Library, the Municipality, and the Pro Loco.
