Edition 2025 — Cantamaggio Valtaro Valceno

In 2025, the Cantamaggio in Alta Valtaro and Valceno renewed the ancient tradition of the maggianti in the villages of the Parma Apennines. Between the evening of April 30th and May 1st, the choirs went from house to house and through the hamlets, singing stornelli and serenades accompanied by the accordion, receiving eggs, bread, and genuine local products in return, according to the propitiatory custom of spring's return.

The 2025 edition of Cantamaggio confirmed the vitality of this popular festival in the Taro and Ceno Valleys, in the province of Parma. Following tradition, the maggianti enlivened the village streets and paths through the hamlets, with the characteristic house-to-house collection tour which, in Alta Valceno, began early in the morning of May 1st. Food stalls, choral singing, and dancing moments accompanied an event that unites the mountain communities in the name of peasant culture and the welcome to the beautiful season.
