Canestrello Festival

The 2025 edition of the Living Chess of Crevacuore confirmed the charm of an event that has become a tradition for this village in the Biella province, in the heart of Piedmont. The streets of the historic center came alive with processions and parades, historical groups in costume, jugglers, and jesters, while the grand chess match transformed the square into a living chessboard with pawns, rooks, knights, kings, and queens portrayed by performers.

Among the food stalls, the canestrello of Crevacuore maintained its role as the symbolic pastry of the region, prepared on-site with the traditional hinged iron. It was precisely around this local product that a dedicated festival was born in 2026, crowning a gastronomic and folk tradition deeply rooted in the Crevacuore community.
