The festival that inaugurates the Carnevali di Marca with allegorical floats and gastronomy
The Candlemas Festival of Tarzo (province of Treviso) is one of the most deeply rooted traditions of the Alta Marca Trevigiana. Between mid-January and early February, spread over several weekends, it accompanies the town towards the end of winter with a succession of initiatives designed for all ages.
The most spectacular moment is the parade of masked floats, which traditionally officially inaugurates the Carnevali di Marca, the circuit that animates dozens of Municipalities in the Treviso area between January and March. The parade features masked groups and allegorical floats created by volunteers linked to parishes, schools, and celebration committees, capable of attracting thousands of spectators (over six thousand in recent editions).
Alongside the parade, the Pro Loco Tarzo enlivens the festival with its food stand: tripe, mixed grill, crostoli, and other specialties of Venetian cuisine. There are also evenings of music and dancing, events for families, cultural and religious moments, and the traditional lottery. The Candlemas Festival is now an identity event for Tarzo and the entire valley, capable of uniting devotion, popular tradition, and fun.
The 35th edition of the Candlemas Festival of Tarzo took place from January 16 to February 2, 2026, over several weekends (January 16, 17, 18, 24, 25, 31 and February 1-2). The heart of the event was the parade of masked floats on Sunday, January 18 (2:30 PM), which officially inaugurated the Carnevali di Marca, attracting around 6,000 spectators. The festival featured the Pro Loco's food stand, music and dancing, family events, and cultural moments.
The Carnevali di Marca circuit, inaugurated by Tarzo, continued through 23 Municipalities in the Treviso area until the grand finale on February 17, Shrove Tuesday.
