Masks, confetti, and snacks in the heart of the town
The Cairate Carnival is one of the most beloved winter events in this Municipality in the province of Varese, located between the Olona Valley and the plain of Alto Milanese. Organised by Pro Loco Cairate in collaboration with the oratory, it is a popular festival designed primarily for families and children.
The day begins with the gathering at the oratory, the meeting point for masks and costumed groups. From here, the parade sets off, crossing the town's streets in an explosion of confetti, costumes, and music. It's the moment when Cairate transforms into a festive procession, with children, parents, and grandparents sharing one of the most cherished rituals of Lombardy's carnival tradition.
Upon returning to the oratory, the celebration continues with entertainment and the unmissable final snack, which concludes the day convivially. No pharaonic floats or spectacular parades: the Cairate Carnival is an authentic village festival, where community participation and shared fun are what matter.
The 2026 edition of the Cairate Carnival takes place on Sunday, February 15. The programme includes the gathering of masked participants at the oratory at 2:00 PM, the departure of the parade at 2:30 PM through the town streets, and upon return, entertainment and snacks for everyone. A festival designed for families, in keeping with the carnival tradition of the province of Varese.
