Edition 2025 — Butera Living Nativity
The 15th edition of the Butera Living Nativity was held over six evenings — December 26, 27, and 28, 2025, and January 4, 5, and 6, 2026 — with doors opening at 6:00 PM in the evocative Arab quarter of Liconza.
Along the route, costumed performers recreated the crafts of the past — the blacksmith, the baker, the washerwoman, the carpenter, the seamstresses, the greengrocer, and women busy preparing lentils, chickpeas, and handmade pasta — alongside scenes of rural and pastoral life and the Nativity grotto. The departure of the Three Wise Men from Piazza Castello was particularly appreciated.
At the entrance to the quarter, markets set up in wooden huts offered local specialties: spinach and broccoli impanata, sfigghiulata, local wine, ricotta fritters, nucatolo, honey, nougat, and crepes. Dedicated parking and a camper area with a shuttle service at the sports field were available for visitors. Admission was free.
