Edition 2025 — Portoferraio Befana

In 2025, Portoferraio once again celebrated the Epiphany with its traditional Befana festival in the historic center. As every year, the afternoon of January 6th was dedicated to children and families, with the spectacular descent of the Befana from the Town Hall thanks to the Fire Brigade, good-luck rituals between Linguella and Piazza Cavour, and moments of entertainment, fairy tales, and sweets for the little ones.

The 2025 Befana in Portoferraio

The 2025 edition of the Befana festival took place on January 6th in the historic center of Portoferraio, on Elba Island. Confirming a tradition much loved by the Elban community, the day's highlight was the descent of the Befana from the top of the Town Hall, rappelled by the Fire Brigade to the enthusiasm of the children.

The festival unfolded between the Linguella area and Piazza Cavour, with the participation of firefighters and archers, a symbolic bonfire, entertainment, distribution of sweets, and fairy tale readings in the Sala della Gran Guardia. A free event designed for families, organized by the Municipality of Portoferraio together with the Pro Loco.
