The design district in the heart of Brera
Brera Design Week is the best-known district of Fuorisalone, the collection of scattered events that accompany Milan Design Week. It takes place in the Brera district, in the heart of Milan, Lombardy: a neighborhood of cobbled streets, galleries, ateliers, and historic buildings that for a week transforms into a large urban design laboratory.
The 2026 edition, the seventeenth, has the concept "Essere Progetto": an invitation to view design not just as a formal result or final product, but as a cultural process, a way of thinking and building the future. A theme that runs through the district's installations and displays.
The Brera Design District boasts 217 permanent showrooms (with 9 new openings) and over 190 temporary exhibitors, for a total of more than 300 initiatives. Showrooms, international brands, emerging designers, and institutions present exhibitions, site-specific installations, talks, and presentations, in a continuous dialogue between design, creativity, and business.
During the week, Brera becomes a hub for research and experimentation where the public—professionals, enthusiasts, and the curious from all over the world—stroll through the streets discovering design innovations. For 2026, the "Fuorisalone Passport" debuts, a digital platform that simplifies event access with a single QR code.
