Edition 2025 — Bread and Salicornia Festival

On July 26, 2025, Cagnano Varano hosted the 9th edition of the Bread and Salicornia Festival, which took place in the historic center around the Franciscan Cloister, in Piazza Giannone. An evening dedicated to the flavors of the Gargano, with free tastings of acquasale, food stalls, the "Pane Arte" exhibition, children's workshops, and traditional folk dances, filled with scents, colors, and smiles despite the bad weather.

The 9th edition in the Gargano

The ninth edition of the Bread and Salicornia Festival took place on July 26, 2025, in Cagnano Varano (FG), with the Franciscan Cloister (former Town Hall) in Piazza Giannone as the heart of the event. Food stalls opened around 8:30 PM, kicking off an evening of tastings and music.

At the center of the festival were the salicornia from the Varano Lagoon and the bread of the peasant tradition, with free tastings of acquasale. The event also featured the "Pane Arte" exhibition, workshops for children, and folk dancing that enlivened the historic center. An edition experienced with enthusiasm by the community, amidst colors and smiles, despite the rain.

  • 9:00 PM — Official inauguration of the festival and the "Pane Arte" exhibition
