The grand traveling performance across the historic center and Orsini Castle in Fiano Romano
The Borgo Festival is one of the most iconic events of the summer in Fiano Romano, located in the Metropolitan City of Rome, in the Lazio region. It is not a festival with a fixed stage, but rather an enormous traveling show that unfolds both inside and outside the Orsini Ducal Castle and along the streets of the historic center. Here, by doorways, in small squares, or at café tables, you will encounter characters and artists whose short theatrical, musical, and movement performances breathe new life into the town's urban fabric.
Every evening, starting at 9:00 PM, the public is invited to explore the village as one large, distributed stage. The Orsini Castle, with its courtyard, 15th-century halls, and dungeons, becomes the natural backdrop for theatrical plays, concerts, and installations, while the squares and streets host roaming performances. The experience is designed as a true emotional journey, capable of helping residents rediscover their own reality while offering visitors a respite from the frantic pace of daily life.
The festival is conceived and organized by the Rinoceronte Incatenato Cultural Association, a group active in Fiano Romano since 1987, long dedicated to the dissemination and promotion of theater through festivals, workshops, and training. Under the association's artistic direction, the Borgo Festival has built a path over the years that weaves together street theater, dance, storytelling, and visual arts, involving companies and artists in a multidisciplinary format. The initiative takes place in collaboration with the Municipal Administration of Fiano Romano, as part of the Estate Fianese summer program.
In addition to the main festival week, there is the Aspettando il Borgo (Waiting for the Borgo) series, which animates the Orsini Castle courtyard in the days immediately preceding the main event with evening theatrical performances, also starting at 9:00 PM. It is the ideal prelude to a festival that, reaching its 27th edition in 2026, confirms the deep bond between Fiano Romano and its theatrical tradition.
Nestled on a hill overlooking the Tiber valley, just a few kilometers from Rome and at the threshold of the Sabina region, Fiano Romano provides a suggestive setting for the festival: a compact historic center, dominated by the bulk of the Orsini Castle, which becomes the beating heart of the village's cultural life on summer evenings. Today, the Borgo Festival is a precious opportunity to experience the town in a different light, amidst art, community, and the memory of the place.
From July 23rd to 29th, 2026, Fiano Romano hosts the twenty-seventh edition of the Borgo Festival, with evening events starting at 9:00 PM in the squares and streets of the historic center and at the Orsini Castle. As per tradition, the event offers a traveling show made of theater, music, and performances, capable of transforming the entire village into a distributed stage.
The 2026 edition is preceded by the Aspettando il Borgo series, scheduled from July 20th to 22nd in the Orsini Castle courtyard with evening theatrical performances. The organization is handled by the Rinoceronte Incatenato Cultural Association, as part of the Estate Fianese program of the Municipality of Fiano Romano.
