About Biblofestival
A month of celebration for children
Biblofestival is the major travelling review dedicated to childhood that every spring crosses the province of Bergamo, also stopping in Verdellino. Founded in 2004 and promoted by the library systems of the Dalmine area and the North-West area of Bergamasca, the festival offers a very full calendar of free events, all designed for children, teenagers, and their families.
What to do
The program combines different languages and disciplines:
- street theatre performances;
- animated readings and storytelling;
- jugglers, acrobatics, and soap bubbles;
- creative workshops where children become inventors, artists, and explorers;
- meetings with authors and illustrators for young people.
All initiatives are free and take place even in case of rain, in indoor spaces.
The Verdellino stop
In Verdellino, Biblofestival events take place at Parco Baden-Powell, on Viale degli Oleandri, with a fallback to the Social Centre in case of bad weather. The artistic direction of the review is curated by Simonetta Rovelli, with co-design by Abibook Società Cooperativa Sociale and the local library systems.
A consolidated tradition in Lombardy
Now in its twenty-third edition, Biblofestival is a much-anticipated event of the Bergamo spring and one of the richest offerings in the Lombardy Region in the field of theatre and animation for children. Its strength lies in its roots in community libraries, making it a widespread and accessible cultural project for everyone.
Biblofestival — edition 2026
The twenty-third edition of Biblofestival takes place from May 15 to June 13, 2026, with a widespread program across more than twenty municipalities in the province of Bergamo, including Verdellino. The festival confirms its travelling and free formula, dedicated to children, teenagers, and families.
The 2026 program features street theatre performances, animated storytelling, jugglers, acrobatics, soap bubbles, creative workshops, and meetings with authors and illustrators. The artistic direction is by Simonetta Rovelli. All initiatives are held even in case of rain, in indoor spaces.
Programme Biblofestival 2026
Verdellino stop — Saturday, May 16 (Parco Baden-Powell)
- 8:00 PM — Creative workshop "Lo spaventapasseri" (The Scarecrow), by Associazione Saltabanco: children build a scarecrow using scissors, paper, glue, and recycled materials.
- 9:30 PM — SAX-OH! Orchestra – The Joyfull Noises, theatre and music performance with Filippo Brunetti: a clown passionate about improvised music involves the audience in a liberating concert.
In case of rain, events will move to the Social Centre at Viale degli Oleandri, 27. The complete calendar for the festival's other stops is published on www.biblofestival.it and www.rbbg.it.
