The big family carnival celebration in the centre of Bergamo
Alongside the historic Mid-Lent Parade, Bergamo dedicates a street festival to the carnival period specifically for families and children: the Carnevalimpici Games. Promoted by the Municipal Administration with the organization of the Family Friendly network, the event brings the city centre to life with a day of entertainment, workshops, and shows.
The 2026 edition, scheduled for Sunday, February 15th, from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM, between Piazza Dante and the Palazzo della Libertà, is inspired by the Winter Olympics. Against a backdrop of snow and high mountains, the city centre hosts numerous stations featuring workshops, shows, and entertainment, while skiers, climbers, and skaters move among the public.
The program includes various themed stations: ice sculptures at Rifugio Ravasio, competitions for "fantasy athletes" at Bivacco dell'Orologio, travelling puppets at Passo del Canzoniere, commedia dell'arte at Sommo Spiazzo, and storytelling at Antro Liberty. A playful route that transforms the city squares into a large mountain village, amidst confetti and masks.
The event is free and open to all, with a special focus on children. The Carnevalimpici Games confirm Bergamo's commitment to offering quality events for families, enhancing the historic centre of the Orobic capital, in the heart of Lombardy, on one of the most cheerful days of the year.
