Benedicta Massacre Anniversary - Official Commemoration

The 2025 edition commemorated the 81st anniversary of the 1944 massacre, in which over 150 young partisans were slaughtered between April 5 and 8, during Holy Week, and just as many were deported to Mauthausen. The official ceremony was held on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the Benedicta Shrine in the municipality of Bosio (Province of Alessandria), with authorities gathering at 9:30 AM.

The open-air Holy Mass was presided over by the Bishop of Tortona, Monsignor Guido Marini, accompanied by the "Risorgimento" marching band from Sampierdarena. The official oration was delivered by the writer Raffaella Romagnolo. In the afternoon, starting at 3:00 PM, the traditional walk along the Path of Peace took place. The edition was part of the broader series of celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Liberation.
