Fat Tuesday in costume through the historic centre of Belluno
The Masked Walk is the highlight of the Carnival in Belluno, the capital of the Dolomite province. On Fat Tuesday, the streets and squares of the historic centre come alive with masks and costumes for a grand costumed parade open to everyone, children and adults.
The event, promoted by the Municipality of Belluno, starts from the city centre with registrations in the afternoon and then proceeds in a procession along the streets of the historic centre. It is a moment of celebration and entertainment that involves families, schools, and citizens, transforming the city's main square into a colourful stage.
Accompanying the celebration is the photo contest with the hashtag #bellunomascherata: participants take photos of children in costume in Piazza dei Martiri and post them on social media. The most appreciated photos win an invitation to the closing ceremony of the Carnival at Palazzo Rosso. A way to involve the entire community of Belluno in the most colourful festival of the year.
The 2026 edition of the Masked Walk takes place on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Fat Tuesday, through the streets of Belluno's historic centre. Children and adults in costume parade in a grand walk open to all.
Belluno is reachable by car from the A27 motorway (Belluno exit) and by train. The Masked Walk takes place in the historic centre.
Registrations on the day from 2:00 PM, with departure at 3:00 PM.
