The beer run through the hills of Fermo
The Beer Run is now a summer classic in Ponzano di Fermo, a small hilltop village in the province of Fermo, in the Marche region. Don't expect the usual serious, sweaty running race: the spirit here is that of a village festival, where the smile at the finish line matters more than the time on the clock. The event is organized by A.S.D. Valtenna in collaboration with the Pro Loco Tre Colli and with the involvement of various local associations.
The event offers a 6 km non-competitive run for adults and a 4 km walk open to families, children, and anyone who wants to participate without an competitive spirit. The routes pass through the historic center of Ponzano di Fermo and the hillside paths, offering picturesque views of the Fermo hills. Many participants run in groups or in costume: the Beer Run also awards prizes for the largest groups and the most original costumes, turning the race into a mini summer carnival.
The name says it all: beer is the real star. Every registered participant receives the event t-shirt and a beer, and at the finish line, the atmosphere becomes that of a large collective celebration. The Beer Run is part of the Festa del Divin Pastore (Feast of the Divine Shepherd) and, more importantly, precedes the dinner at the Sagra del Cinghiale e Birre Artigianali (Wild Boar and Craft Beer Festival), the gastronomic event that attracts food and quality beer enthusiasts to the village every year.
More than a race, the Beer Run is a way to experience the village of Ponzano di Fermo in its most authentic and convivial dimension. The streets come alive, local associations mobilize, and the proceeds support the activities of the Pro Loco Tre Colli. It's the perfect opportunity to discover a less touristy corner of the Marche, characterized by hills, hospitality, and village traditions, combining a light run with an evening of good food.
The 7th Beer Run is scheduled for Saturday, August 1st, 2026, in Ponzano di Fermo. The official website of Pro Loco Tre Colli confirms the meet-up at 4:00 PM and the awards ceremony at 7:10 PM, after which dinner will be available at the Sagra del Cinghiale e Birre Artigianali (Wild Boar and Craft Beer Festival). The two formats of the event remain confirmed: the 6 km non-competitive run and the 4 km walk. The registration form and detailed rules will be published on the Pro Loco website and via TimingRun in the weeks leading up to the event.
The complete rules, start times, and registration details will be published on the Pro Loco Tre Colli website and on TimingRun closer to the event.
Ponzano di Fermo is reachable by car from the Pedaso or Porto San Giorgio exit of the A14 highway, continuing inland through the Fermo hills. The nearest train station is Pedaso, on the Adriatic line.
