The Reggiolo stages in the widespread festival of the Terre di Po e dei Gonzaga
The Bassa Centrico Festival was born in 2026 as a major widespread event designed to unite and showcase the eight municipalities of the Unione Bassa Reggiana — Luzzara, Guastalla, Gualtieri, Boretto, Brescello, Poviglio, Novellara, and Reggiolo — into a single, vast open-air stage. Promoted by local administrations together with the IAT Bassa Reggiana, the festival enhances the so-called Terre di Po e dei Gonzaga (Lands of the Po and the Gonzaga) through themed dinners, excursions, guided tours, shows, and street games that wind from one village to another in the plain.
In the territory of the Municipality of Reggiolo, in the province of Reggio Emilia, the festival takes on a convivial soul deeply linked to local gastronomic tradition. The heart of the Reggiolo stage is "La Notte dei Sapori. Tra l'Emilia e il Po" (The Night of Flavours. Between Emilia and the Po), the dinner-event on Saturday, May 30th, in the charming garden of Villa Fassati: the absolute star is the Reggiolese DE.CO. Pumpkin Tortello, a product with Communal Designation, served in three variations — with soffritto, with Roquefort and balsamic, with butter and lemon zest — and accompanied by local cured meats, scarpasot, and ciccioli. The Pro Loco of Reggiolo is in charge of the evening.
Throughout the event, Reggiolo opens the doors of its historic centre and Palazzo Sartoretti with guided tours (hours 10:00 AM-12:00 PM and 3:00 PM-7:00 PM, by reservation). On Saturday, May 30th, an excursion in the Valleys along the CAI Path 608 "don Candido Bizzarri" is also scheduled, starting from Ponte del Pastore: an initiative in collaboration with the Municipality of Novellara, which allows visitors to discover the wetland environments and agricultural landscape of the Bassa Reggiana.
Closing the Reggiolo stage, on Tuesday, June 2nd, is the 21st edition of "Gioca Reggiolo" ("Games, Toys & Co."): from morning to evening, the city centre and the main square transform into a large space for families, with entertainment for children, theatre performances, street games, and creative workshops. It is the most anticipated and popular event of the Reggiolo summer, here included in the widespread festival programme.
The Reggiolo stage of the Bassa Centrico Festival is aimed at families, food lovers, walkers, and those curious about the river landscape of Emilia-Romagna. It is an invitation to experience the Bassa Reggiana at the slow rhythms of the great river, amidst Communal Designation flavours, historic palaces, and popular celebration. For many experiences, particularly the dinner at Villa Fassati, booking is mandatory.
The first edition of the Bassa Centrico Festival (May 30 - June 2, 2026) inaugurated a widespread event across the eight municipalities of the Bassa Reggiana. In Reggiolo, in the province of Reggio Emilia, the stage had a convivial and gastronomic soul. On Saturday, May 30th, in the garden of Villa Fassati, the dinner "La Notte dei Sapori. Tra l'Emilia e il Po" (The Night of Flavours. Between Emilia and the Po) was held, dedicated to the Reggiolese DE.CO. Pumpkin Tortello served in three variations, organized by the Pro Loco of Reggiolo. Throughout the festival, guided tours of the historic centre and Palazzo Sartoretti were available, while on May 30th, an excursion in the Valleys along the CAI Path 608 took place. The stage concluded on June 2nd with the 21st edition of Gioca Reggiolo, the big street party for families.
The Reggiolo stage intertwined gastronomy, culture, nature, and popular celebration.
