The Alpini Gathering of Val di Scalve
The Azzone Alpini Festival is the traditional summer event that brings together the 'penne nere' and the entire community of Azzone, a mountain municipality in Val di Scalve, in the province of Bergamo. Organized by the Azzone Alpini Group, the festival combines conviviality, remembrance, and the values of the Alpini corps in a picturesque mountain setting.
Two Days of Celebration
The event unfolds over two days. Saturday evening is dedicated to an Alpini refreshment at the oratory, with food and live music. Sunday is the official gathering day, with a program marked by the typical moments of Alpini assemblies:
- gathering and flag-raising
- procession through the village streets and laying of a wreath at the Monument to the Fallen
- Holy Mass at the Alpini Chapel, located at the Roccolo delle Strìe
- convivial outdoor lunch
Remembrance and Alpini Tradition
The Azzone Alpini Festival is above all a moment of remembrance and gratitude towards those who have served in the Alpini corps, as well as an occasion for celebration for the community of Val di Scalve. The connection with the mountain territory and Alpini tradition makes this event a heartfelt and well-attended occasion.
Alpini Festival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Azzone Alpini Festival takes place on Saturday August 2nd and Sunday August 3rd.
On Saturday evening, from 7 pm, the Azzone oratory (Via Santi 25) hosts the Alpini refreshment with food and live music by Nabila and musicians. Sunday is dedicated to the gathering: at 9 am, assembly and flag-raising; at 10 am, procession through the village streets and laying of a wreath at the Monument to the Fallen; at 11:30 am, Holy Mass at the Alpini Chapel at Roccolo delle Strìe, followed by an outdoor lunch. In case of bad weather, the Sunday celebration will be held indoors.

How to get there
Azzone is reachable by car via the SS294 of Val di Scalve, starting from Darfo Boario Terme or Schilpario. The festival takes place at the oratory (Via Santi 25) and the Alpini Chapel.
