Edition 2025 — Chestnut and Hazelnut Festival

The twelfth edition of the Chestnut and Hazelnut Festival took place from October 10 to 12 and from October 17 to 19, 2025, in the historic center of Avella, with Corso Vittorio Emanuele closed to traffic. Food and craft stalls, tastings of Avellana hazelnuts, chestnuts, porcini mushrooms, and wild boar, live music in Piazza Municipio, and guided tours of archaeological sites enlivened two highly attended weekends in lower Irpinia.

The twelfth edition, October 2025

In 2025, the Chestnut and Hazelnut Festival occupied two consecutive weekends: October 10, 11, and 12 and October 17, 18, and 19. The heart of the festival was once again the historic center of Avella, with Corso Vittorio Emanuele closed to traffic and Piazza Municipio and Piazza Convento transformed into performance areas.

The stalls offered the food and wine excellence of lower Irpinia: Avellana hazelnuts, walnuts, chestnuts and roasted chestnuts, porcini mushrooms, local olive oil, wild boar, and local sausages, accompanied by Irpinian Aglianico and craft beers. Among the most requested desserts were brittle, nougat, hazelnut chocolates, and spreads.

Alongside the food, the program offered folk music and live concerts, evening DJ sets, a craft and agri-food market, and guided tours of the city's monuments: the Roman amphitheater, the Roman tombs, the castle, the Ducal Palace, and the archaeological museum. The edition was organized by the I Rami del Melo association with the patronage of the Municipality of Avella.
