Assumption Day Feast and Sea Procession

The 2025 edition

From August 14th to 17th, 2025, Torvaianica, a seaside district of the Municipality of Pomezia, experienced its most iconic festival: four days of celebrations in honor of Mary Assumed into Heaven, organized by the Beata Vergine Immacolata Parish led by Father Andrea Conocchia, with the support of the local community.

The sea procession of August 15th

The highlight was, as per tradition, the sea procession on Ferragosto: the statue of the Madonna was embarked on a fishing boat and escorted by a flotilla of boats along the coast, while the faithful followed the rite from the beach. An image that has been repeated in Torvaianica for decades and continues to attract residents and vacationers.

Community and tradition

The other evenings brought the procession through the various neighborhoods of the coast, with masses and meditative rosaries, before the return to the central church of Piazza Ungheria. The pastoral theme of the Jubilee year, focused on «Pilgrims of Hope», accompanied the celebrations, with strong involvement from the parish youth. The closing, featuring a blessing on the churchyard, a brass band concert, and fireworks, confirmed the festival as the most attended event of the Pomezia summer.
