Assoro-Leonforte-Nissoria Traveling Carnival

The carnival in Nissoria before the shared project

In 2025, the carnival of Nissoria and that of the neighboring municipalities of Assoro and Leonforte, in the province of Enna, still took place separately, with autonomous celebrations in each town. The traditional mask parades, confetti, and entertainment in the squares testified to the vitality of a carnival tradition rooted in inland Sicily.

It was precisely from this experience of distinct festivals that the idea, realized in 2026, of a traveling and shared carnival was born: to combine the energies of the three municipalities to offer a richer and more participatory event, capable of enhancing local folklore and strengthening the bonds between the communities of Nissoria, Assoro, and Leonforte.
