The traveling street food and craft market that lights up Pioraco's evenings
Arte & Gusto is the traveling market that for several years has enlivened the streets of Pioraco, a charming inland village in the province of Macerata, in the Marche region. Known as the "town of water and paper" for its historic fulling mills and the Potenza river that flows through it, Pioraco provides a natural backdrop for an event that combines crafts, local flavors, and a convivial atmosphere.
The stalls are set up along the pedestrian and cycle path of Piè di Gualdo, at the foot of Monte Gualdo, and sometimes in the historic center up to Piazza Isabella d'Este. Along the route, visitors will find a mosaic of offerings:
Arte & Gusto is not an isolated appointment, but a formula that returns on the main festive days of the Pioraco calendar: May 1st, which ideally opens the summer season, the June 2nd holiday weekend for Republic Day, and summer evenings, when the market intertwines with other village initiatives such as the Midsummer Fair, the Crayfish Festival, and historical re-enactments. On summer dates, the stands remain open from morning until midnight.
The event's true strength lies in its setting. Pioraco offers visitors the chance to combine a stroll through the stalls with a day outdoors: picnics along the river, nature excursions to the "Li Vurgacci" waterfalls, and play areas for children at the sports facilities. A perfect opportunity to discover one of the greenest and most authentic corners of the Marche Apennines.
The market is managed by "I mercatini di Carla," in collaboration with the Municipality of Pioraco and local associations. Admission is free and the event is open to all, including families.
On May 1st, 2026, the Arte & Gusto market officially kicked off the summer season in Pioraco. The stalls lined the Piè di Gualdo promenade, featuring antiques, crafts, local specialties, and numerous street food options for lunch and dinner.
Despite the crisp air of the day, the event attracted many visitors, who alternated browsing the stalls with picnics along the river and walks to the village's natural waterfalls. Admission was free.
Market along the Piè di Gualdo promenade with exhibitors of antiques, collectibles, artistic crafts, and typical products. Street food stands open for lunch and dinner. Outdoor events and nature trails nearby.
Pioraco can be reached by car via the SS256 "Muccese"; about 45 minutes from Macerata, about twenty minutes from Camerino. The nearest train station is Castelraimondo, from which you can continue by bus or car.
The market winds along the pedestrian and cycle area of Piè di Gualdo (62025 Pioraco, MC), at the foot of Monte Gualdo, and in the streets of the historic center.
Free admission. On summer dates, stands are open from 8:00 AM to midnight, weather permitting. Info: +39 338 3175717 (I mercatini di Carla).
