The Porto Recanati stop of the travelling festival of contemporary circus, street theatre, and live music
The Art Festival is a travelling performing arts festival that crosses the Marche region every summer, and Porto Recanati is traditionally its opening stop. For one evening, Largo Porto Giulio and the town's seafront transform into a large open-air stage, where contemporary circus, street theatre, and live music intertwine in a free-access, widespread performance.
The event is conceived and organised by the Whats Art association, which has been promoting performing arts along the coast for years, recognising their social and inclusive value. The festival is indeed designed for all audiences, with particular attention to families and children.
Throughout the afternoon and evening, performances ranging from balancing acts to aerial acrobatics, from juggling to comedy theatre, and live music from emerging artists alternate. Alongside the shows, the Creative Market offers original creations by artisans and artists, completing an experience designed to be enjoyed while strolling between performances.
Porto Recanati, a lively seaside town in the Province of Macerata, in the Marche region, hosts the Art Festival at the foot of Monte Conero, in a setting that combines the sea, the historic centre, and the imposing Svevo Castle. The Porto Recanati stop inaugurates a tour that in the following weeks touches other locations on the Marche coast โ including Numana, Grottammare, and Recanati โ making the Art Festival one of the most anticipated summer events in the area.
True to its mission, the Art Festival maintains completely free entry to all performances. It is an opportunity to discover street art and contemporary circus in a relaxed summer atmosphere, where the quality of the shows is complemented by the beauty of the seafront at sunset.
On Saturday, June 27, 2026, Porto Recanati inaugurates the tenth edition of the Art Festival, the historic travelling event for performing arts organised by the Whats Art association. From 5:00 PM until midnight, Largo Porto Giulio and the seafront host an afternoon and evening of contemporary circus, street theatre, and live music, alongside the Creative Market featuring original creations by artisans and artists.
Admission is free for all performances. The Porto Recanati stop opens a tour that, until July 12th, also includes Numana, Grottammare, and Recanati. The detailed programme with companies and show times will be published by the Whats Art organisation in the weeks preceding the event.
