Arci Rome Meets the World

A festival that defined the Roman summer

Arci Rome Meets the World is one of the longest-running and most recognizable events in the Capital's summer calendar. Born in the mid-nineties as a world music showcase by the small lake in Villa Ada—where it remained until 2021 under the name Villa Ada Rome Meets the World—the festival is organized by Arci Rome APS, a network uniting about ninety local clubs and over one hundred thousand members. The formula has never changed: concerts bringing the world's music to Rome, surrounded by a vibrant space for dialogue, meetings, food, and social connection.

The move to Parco delle Valli

In 2026, the festival found a new home at the Arena Rino Gaetano, located within the Parco delle Valli at Via delle Valli 171, in the Conca d'Oro neighborhood (III Municipality). The change of venue was due to the unavailability of Villa Ada, which is currently undergoing tree preservation measures. Parco delle Valli, a large green space along the Aniene river already used for local social and sports activities, has allowed the festival to preserve its original spirit: an open-air arena immersed in nature, just a stone's throw from the subway, open to the neighborhood and the city.

World music, free for everyone

The musical programming weaves together the history of the Italian alternative scene and international exploration. The 2026 edition brought to the stage 99 Posse alongside Asian Dub Foundation, the return of Bandabardò, Frankie hi-nrg mc with his Voce e batteria project, singer-songwriter Giulia Mei, Selton, Sarafine, Aldolà Chivalà, and the Palestinian-Jordanian-London collective 47SOUL. All concerts are free for Arci members: entry is granted with the membership card, which can also be purchased on-site.

More than just a stage: debates, workshops, and community

What distinguishes Rome Meets the World from a standard concert lineup is its daytime and evening program of public discussion. Every day, before the music begins, the stage hosts dialogues on political, social, and cultural themes with journalists, administrators, activists, and researchers: migrant rights, urban and nightlife policies, internationalism, the environment, and solidarity with Palestine. Alongside the talks, there are workshops, book presentations, DJ sets, tournaments, and activities for children.

A festival rooted in the neighborhood

The choice of Parco delle Valli has given the festival a sense of proximity: the III Municipality is a working-class and residential part of Rome, far from the tourist circuits, where a free summer arena becomes a cultural hub for the entire neighborhood. Evenings begin in the afternoon and continue late into the night, with an intergenerational audience mixing long-time Arci activists, university students, and families from the Nomentano and Conca d'Oro areas.

Rome, Lazio, and the music of the world

In the summer landscape of the Municipality of Rome and the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in Lazio, the festival occupies a unique space: that of an event that does not separate entertainment from civic engagement. For those visiting Rome in June, it represents a rare opportunity to experience the city from the perspective of the Romans, with an entrance fee that is simply a membership card.
