The historic feast of Colà di Lazise where the queen of the table is stuffed duck
The Ancient Festival of Our Lady of the Snows is the historic summer festival of Colà, a hillside hamlet of Lazise, in the province of Verona, in the hinterland of Lake Garda. It takes place every year at the beginning of August around the church of Our Lady of the Snows, whose liturgical feast day is August 5th.
The festival is popularly known as the "Festa de l'ànara": the specialty that makes it famous is indeed the "anara col pien", roast stuffed duck, a dish of genuine cuisine tied to the Garda land. Every evening, from the opening of the food stalls, you can enjoy stuffed duck, local wines, and other traditional specialties.
The program intertwines the religious dimension with the popular one. The Patronal Mass in the church of Our Lady of the Snows marks the moments of faith, while the main stage hosts concerts and dancing evenings. The festival unfolds between two symbolic locations of the hamlet: Località Madonna and Piazza Don Vantini.
The funfair for children and the socio-humanitarian stalls run by volunteer associations contribute to animating the festival, combining celebration with moments of solidarity. It is an event that brings together the entire community of Colà and attracts visitors from all over the Garda region.
The 2026 edition of the Ancient Festival of Our Lady of the Snows will liven up the hamlet of Colà di Lazise from August 1st to 5th. The festival will take place between two symbolic locations, Località Madonna and Piazza Don Vantini, alternating spiritual moments, music, and food stalls.
On Friday, August 1st, the opening of the food stalls at 7 PM marks the official start of the festival. For 2026, the absolute star of the table will again be the "anara col pien", roast stuffed duck, accompanied by local wines. On Sunday, the Patronal Mass in the church of Our Lady of the Snows will mark the religious heart of the festival, while August 5th celebrates the liturgical feast that gives the event its name.
Throughout the festival: funfair, socio-humanitarian stalls by volunteer associations, and local gastronomic specialties.
Colà di Lazise can be reached by car from the A4 motorway (Peschiera del Garda or Affi exit). The hamlet is located on the hills east of Lazise, in the direction of the famous Colà thermal baths. Parking is available near the festival area.
Free admission. Food stalls open every evening from 7 PM. Funfair and markets throughout the festival.
