Ancient Castle Fair of Mussomeli

The 113th edition (2025)

The 113th Ancient Castle Fair of Mussomeli was held from August 29 to September 2, 2025, in the Manfredonico Castle district. The inauguration took place at 7:00 PM on Friday, August 29, with the opening of the fairgrounds and the stands of the Castelfood village signed by Slow Food Sicily.

Among the highlights of the edition were the traditional livestock fair with native Sicilian breeds, workshops on sheep's milk processing, technical conferences, cooking shows with zero-kilometer local products, a photographic exhibition on the history of the fair, and a play area for children. On the spectacular side, the historical pageant in medieval costumes re-enacted the arrival of King Frederick III of Aragon, and the "Animated Castle" event featured flag-wavers, drummers, and jesters. The testimonial of the edition was Davide Gomiero of Gomiero Farm, known for the docu-series "Quella pazza fattoria" aired on DMAX. On September 2nd, the festival concluded with religious services and the procession of the Madonna delle Catene.
