Edition 2025 — Altamura Bread Day
The 2025 World Bread Day in Altamura opened on Thursday, October 16, with the non-competitive "Ancient Bakeries Marathon", a walk through the alleys of the historic center starting from Via Onorato Candiota. In the evening, two exhibitions were inaugurated: "We will make bread from the sea and the earth" at the Church of San Giacomo, featuring paintings by Hugo Bustamante Isla, and the photographic exhibition "From the earth to the bread" at the Santa Croce Conservatory.
The highlight was on October 23, with the "Ode to Bread" concert at the Teatro Mercadante, featuring a narrator, female choir, and orchestra, inspired by the verses of Pablo Neruda. Throughout the period, the Vito Forte Bread Museum and the Alta Murgia Ethnographic Museum offered guided tours, screen printing workshops, and tastings. All events were free of charge, promoted by the Pane di Altamura PDO Consortium with the Municipality of Altamura and the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture.
