Almabtrieb in Wolkenstein — Langental (Vallunga)

The 2025 edition of the Almabtrieb in Wolkenstein took place as tradition dictates in the month of September in the Vallunga (Langental), near Selva di Val Gardena, in the municipality of Wolkenstein in Gröden (province of Bolzano, South Tyrol).

The day, which began around 10:00 AM, saw the herds return to the valley in the early afternoon, with cows adorned with flower crowns, colorful ribbons, and bells, led by the lead cow. The program included South Tyrolean folk music, a rich gastronomic corner with traditional specialties prepared according to farming customs, games and entertainment for children, and the award ceremony for the best-decorated cow. The event, with free admission, confirmed itself as one of the most authentic end-of-summer events in Val Gardena, immersed in the Dolomite scenery of the Vallunga.
