About Fornasiero Trophy
A race in the heart of Saccisica
The Alfredo Fornasiero Trophy is the road cycling race of Piove di Sacco, in the province of Padua. Reserved for the Elite and Under 23 categories of the Italian Cycling Federation, it attracts athletes from Italy and other European countries, and represents an anticipated event in the Veneto amateur calendar.
The Circuito dei Casoni
The route, called Circuito dei Casoni, winds for over 170 km starting from the hamlet of Corte. The course crosses the rural landscape of the Saccisica and touches symbolic buildings of the territory, such as the Casone Rosso, inhabited until the nineties, and the Casone of via Ramei (the 'Casone Bianco'), which houses the museum of popular culture and peasant civilization. A circuit 'not too hard, but capable of making a selection'.
A family dedication
The race is dedicated to the memory of Alfredo Fornasiero and his brothers Vito, Remo, and Renzo, united by their passion for cycling. Organized by ASD Alfredo Fornasiero with the municipal administration, the race promotes cycling in the territory and enhances its agricultural vocation, linking sport to the landscape of the province of Padua.
Fornasiero Trophy — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Alfredo Fornasiero Trophy is expected in August, according to tradition which places the race on summer Sundays. The race, reserved for the Elite and Under 23 categories of the Italian Cycling Federation, will be held on the Circuito dei Casoni with departure from the hamlet of Corte, crossing the rural landscape of the Saccisica.
