The festival of Afro-European cinema and diasporas in Brescia
The Afrobrix Film Festival is a unique film event: the first Italian festival dedicated to Afro-descendants, Afro-European cinema, and African diasporas. Promoted by the association Afrobrix APS, it takes place at the Cinema Nuovo Eden in Brescia, a historic venue of the Fondazione Brescia Musei.
For three days, the festival offers films and short films in competition, previews, meetings with international guests, and discussion forums. The selected works tell stories and perspectives that intertwine Africa and Europe, investigating themes of identity, belonging, and the multiple forms of contemporary Afro-descendant reality.
Afrobrix is not limited to screenings: the festival extends beyond the cinema to reach the city with musical and cultural events open to everyone, such as outdoor rap and hip-hop battles. It is a way to make the festival an occasion for encounter between different communities and to give visibility to voices often on the margins of mainstream cinematic narratives.
The choice of Brescia is no coincidence: the Lombard capital is a city with a strong multicultural vocation, and the festival enhances this identity. Afrobrix contributes to making cinema a tool for dialogue and mutual understanding, in line with the tradition of Cinema Nuovo Eden as a space for culture, training, and inclusion.
The VI Edition of Afrobrix Film Festival returns from June 5 to 7, 2026, at Cinema Nuovo Eden in Brescia, promoted by Afrobrix APS. Three days dedicated to Afro-European cinema and African diasporas, with previews, meetings with international guests, and events open to the city.
