About Afrobrix

Afrobrix Film Festival is the festival in Brescia dedicated to Afro-European cinema and African diasporas, promoted by the association Afrobrix APS. For three days, the Cinema Nuovo Eden in Brescia hosts screenings of films and short films in competition, meetings with international guests, and cultural and musical events open to the city. The first Italian festival dedicated to the Afro-descendant community, it investigates themes such as identity, belonging, and the multiple forms of contemporary Afro-descendant reality. An event of cinema and intercultural dialogue that brings to Brescia voices and stories often underrepresented on the big screen.

Cinema and Diasporas

The Afrobrix Film Festival is a unique film event: the first Italian festival dedicated to Afro-descendants, Afro-European cinema, and African diasporas. Promoted by the association Afrobrix APS, it takes place at the Cinema Nuovo Eden in Brescia, a historic venue of the Fondazione Brescia Musei.

Three Days of Screenings and Meetings

For three days, the festival offers films and short films in competition, previews, meetings with international guests, and discussion forums. The selected works tell stories and perspectives that intertwine Africa and Europe, investigating themes of identity, belonging, and the multiple forms of contemporary Afro-descendant reality.

Beyond the Cinema Hall

Afrobrix is not limited to screenings: the festival extends beyond the cinema to reach the city with musical and cultural events open to everyone, such as outdoor rap and hip-hop battles. It is a way to make the festival an occasion for encounter between different communities and to give visibility to voices often on the margins of mainstream cinematic narratives.

Brescia, an Intercultural City

The choice of Brescia is no coincidence: the Lombard capital is a city with a strong multicultural vocation, and the festival enhances this identity. Afrobrix contributes to making cinema a tool for dialogue and mutual understanding, in line with the tradition of Cinema Nuovo Eden as a space for culture, training, and inclusion.
