Conegliano, the wine capital for the 150th anniversary of its Oenological School
The 150th anniversary of the Cerletti Institute has transformed Conegliano, in the province of Treviso, into the Italian capital of wine. The G.B. Cerletti Oenological School, founded on July 9, 1876, is the oldest oenology school in Italy and has trained generations of oenologists and wine technicians, profoundly marking the wine history of the country and the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG territory.
The celebrations combined scientific and commemorative moments: conferences promoted by CREA and the University of Padua on the frontiers of sparkling wine research, institutional ceremonies, guided tours of the school and the territory coordinated by the Protection Consortium. The popular heart of the anniversary was the 10th Mini Expo, featuring products made by students and guided tastings set up between Piazza Cima and the former convent of San Francesco.
The celebrations coincided with multiple anniversaries: 120 years of the Foundation for Oenological and Agricultural Education, 80 years of the Alumni Association, 25 years of the Enocoro choir, and 10 years of the Mini Expo. The most solemn moment was the inaugural parade on May 23, led by the Alpine Band and accompanied by civil and military authorities, wine brotherhoods, students, and teachers.
The 150th anniversary of the Cerletti Institute took place in Conegliano from May 21 to 24, 2026, transforming the city into the Italian wine capital with scientific conferences, institutional ceremonies, guided tours, and events open to the public in honor of Italy's oldest oenology school.
The heart of the event was the 10th Mini Expo, with about a hundred Cerletti students involved in guided tastings set up between Piazza Cima and the former convent of San Francesco. The program combined scientific research on sparkling wines with historical commemoration, culminating in the solemn inaugural parade on May 23 led by the Alpine Band.
Conegliano is served by the train station on the Venice-Udine line and by the A27 motorway (Conegliano exit). Piazza Cima and the Oenological School are located in the historic center.
The Mini Expo and public events in Piazza Cima were free to enter. Conferences and ceremonies as per program.
