Wheat Festival 2025

The second edition of the Wheat Festival was held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 7:00 PM, in the setting of Masseria Feudo in San Giorgio Ionico (TA). The event celebrated local agricultural tradition with an authentic demonstration of scythe harvesting, accompanied by folk songs and pizzica dances performed by the Compagnia Areté. Children gathered the stalks, forming sheaves that were transported by a horse-drawn cart.

Among the evening's activities were workshops on preparing bread, orecchiette, and gnocchi, an acrobatic pizza freestyle show by the Accademia del Gusto, a creative workshop for children, and an information session on healthy eating. In the farmhouse courtyard, tastings featured bread decorated with the town's coat of arms, local organic products, and peasant tradition specialties. The event, with free admission, was promoted by the Municipality of San Giorgio Ionico with the Isonomia APS Association and the patronage of GAL Magna Grecia.
