Welcoming of the Lavello Pilgrims in Orta Nova

In 2025, the pilgrimage from Lavello to the Incoronata renewed a tradition lasting about 133 years. The Pro Loco Orta Nova APS organized the welcome for the faithful, inviting the public to gather along Corso Umberto I, next to the ASL, on Friday, April 25, starting at 4:30 PM.

As the group passed, accompanied by characteristic agricultural tractors decorated with Marian imagery, citizens threw rose petals to pay homage to the image of the Madonna Incoronata during the entrance procession. After a prayer stop at the Church of the Beata Vergine Maria dell'Altomare and an evening of songs, dances, and local dishes, the pilgrims departed the following morning toward the Incoronata Sanctuary in Foggia, the destination of a walk of over forty kilometers.
