Edition 2025 — Waldensian Festival

The 2025 edition of the Waldensian Festival in Pomaretto celebrated the 177th anniversary of the 1848 Letters Patent. On the evening of February 16th, the bonfire of freedom was lit, standing about twelve meters tall—one of the largest in the Waldensian Valleys—accompanied by songs, prayer, and mulled wine. On February 17th, the traditional costume parade, the service at the Waldensian Temple, the community lunch, and the evening theater show took place.

The 2025 celebrations in Pomaretto

In 2025, the Waldensian Festival of Pomaretto marked 177 years since King Charles Albert's 1848 Letters Patent. On February 16th, the community gathered around the great bonfire, built in a pyramid shape with timber and brushwood and among the tallest in the Waldensian Valleys, ignited at the end of the evening torchlight procession starting from the Waldensian Temple.

On the morning of February 17th, of a more solemn nature, the procession crossed the town with women in traditional Waldensian costumes, accompanied by marching bands, concluding at the temple with a thanksgiving service. The day continued with a community lunch, entertainment with a special guest, and, in the evening, the performance by the Waldensian amateur theater group.
