Edition 2025 — Volterra AD 1398

The 26th edition of Volterra AD 1398 took place on Sunday, August 10 and Sunday, August 17. The most famous medieval re-enactment in the Valdicecina brought the historic center and the Archaeological Park to life with hundreds of participants, flag-wavers, crossbowmen, markets, and taverns, using the Grosso volterrano as the only currency of the festival.

The 26th edition of Volterra AD 1398 was held on Sunday, August 10 and 17, 2025. For two days, the city of alabaster returned to the year of our Lord 1398 with hundreds of costumed participants—merchants, artisans, ladies, knights, soldiers, and jesters—between the historic center and the Enrico Fiumi Archaeological Park. There was no shortage of flag-waver and crossbowman shows, historical processions, medieval music, markets, and taverns, with the traditional Grosso volterrano replacing the euro. Among the novelties of the year, free access to numerous museums via the Volterracard was included in the event ticket.
