Viteliu – The Oath of the Italic Peoples

The 2025 edition of the historical re-enactment “Viteliu – The Oath of the Italic Peoples” was held in Corfinio, in the province of L'Aquila, on Sunday, August 3, 2025. The village's archaeological area was transformed into an open-air stage to celebrate the ancient capital of the Italic League.

The public witnessed solemn rituals, ritual dances, and scenes of daily life from the era, with costumed priestesses guarding the ceremonial fires, combat demonstrations, and fire shows that reconstructed the atmosphere of the Social War, when Corfinium was called “Italia”. The event, organized by the Pro Loco of Corfinio APS, saw growing participation compared to previous years, confirming its status as one of the most identity-defining events in the Peligna Valley and Abruzzo.
