The Monk vinyl record market, featuring crate digging and analog DJ sets
Vinyl Village is Rome's longest-running record market: since 2016, it has been gathering collectors, enthusiasts, and curious newcomers at Monk, the cultural center at Via Giuseppe Mirri 35 in the Casalbertone-Portonaccio district, just steps from Tiburtina station. Organized by the Disco e Cultura Association in collaboration with Monk, the event has become a staple for those who love music in its physical format, far from the world of streaming and algorithms.
The heart of the event is the record market: dozens of stalls set up by sellers, specialized shops, and private collectors from all over Italy offer vinyl, CDs, and vintage cassettes of every genre and era. You will find everything from rock to classical, jazz to funk, and Italian pop to electronic music, including recent reissues, rare editions, and forgotten albums waiting to be rediscovered. It is the kingdom of crate digging, where every crate of records might hide the piece you have been searching for for years.
The day is soundtracked by DJ sets played exclusively on vinyl, running non-stop from morning until evening. Various selectors take turns at the turntables, spinning 33s and 45s and turning the market into a true journey through sounds and emotions. You can stop to listen, chat with other collectors, or simply let the music guide you from one stall to the next.
Monk provides its own food & drink service: you can grab a drink or a bite to eat without ever leaving the event, enjoying the spacious indoor areas or the garden during the warmer months. The environment is informal and pet-friendly: you can bring your dog and browse the stalls at your leisure. Some editions are enriched by a flea market in the garden, featuring artisans, artists, and vintage goods alongside the classic record selection.
In the landscape of musical events in the Municipality of Rome and the wider Lazio region, Vinyl Village holds a special place: it is neither a concert nor a stage festival, but a celebration of record culture that weaves together music, collecting, and neighborhood social life. Admission is by voluntary donation, making it an event accessible to everyone, from the most demanding connoisseurs to newcomers wanting to discover the charm of vinyl.
The 2026 season of Vinyl Village kicked off on Saturday, January 31, with the 47th edition, from 10:00 AM to 7:30 PM, and continued on Saturday, March 28, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. On both days, the Monk on Via Giuseppe Mirri hosted sellers' stalls with vinyl, CDs, and vintage cassettes to browse through in search of the perfect record.
As per tradition, DJ sets strictly on vinyl played non-stop throughout the day, accompanied by Monk's food & drink service and the usual pet-friendly atmosphere. Admission was by voluntary donation.
Monk is located at Via Giuseppe Mirri 35, in the Casalbertone-Portonaccio district (East Rome). It is easily accessible via the Metro B Tiburtina stop and local bus lines serving the Tiburtina station area. By car, the area is conveniently located near the Tangenziale Est.
The market generally runs from the morning (10:00 AM) until the evening. Admission is by voluntary donation: you decide how much you wish to contribute. The venue is pet-friendly and accessible.
Bring cash for purchases at the stalls and a sturdy bag for your records. Arrive early if you are looking for rare items: the best finds go quickly.
