Edition 2025 — VPM Festival

The 2025 edition of Villa Pennisi in Musica took place in Acireale from July 31st to August 13th, themed "Borderless Music" as conceived by artistic director David Romano. The program's common thread was Shostakovich, marking the 50th anniversary of his passing, while cinema served as a leitmotif with tributes to famous soundtracks. The festival brought together 105 students from around the world and 52 international artists, recording over 6,000 attendees.

Villa Pennisi in Musica 2025

The 2025 edition of Villa Pennisi in Musica was held in Acireale, in the province of Catania, from July 31st to August 13th, confirming its status as a vibrant laboratory of sounds, ideas, and visions. Under the guidance of artistic director David Romano, the chosen theme was "Borderless Music," where music engaged with theater, cinema, architecture, and the very locations of the baroque city.

Fifty years after his passing, Shostakovich was the concert leitmotif, while cinema became a recurring theme with tributes to famous soundtracks such as those from "Once Upon a Time in America," "Scent of a Woman," "Shutter Island," and "Barry Lyndon." Teacher-performers such as Alessio Pianelli, Edoardo Giachino, Mirei Yamada, and the musicians of the Avos Project bridged the gap between teaching and the stage.

The event hosted 105 students from all over the world and 52 international artists, with over 6,000 attendees at the concerts, all of which were free of charge.
