Edition 2025 — VUM
One thousand athletes and sold-out bibs
On May 31, 2025, the Vesuvio Ultra Marathon set its attendance record: approximately one thousand participants, including nearly 270 international runners from 27 nations, such as France, Brazil, the United States, and Australia. All four scheduled distances—the 75 km Vesuvio Ultra with 4,650 meters of elevation gain, the 50 km Vesuvio Marathon with 3,700 meters, the 30 km Vesuvio Trail with 2,040 meters, and the 18 km Spartacus Trail with 1,270 meters—had sold out in the preceding weeks.
From the Palazzo Mediceo gardens to the crater
The day began with an eco-trekking tour accompanied by CAI guides, followed by the race starts from the gardens of the Palazzo Mediceo in Ottaviano. Competitors traversed multiple sides of the volcano, through lava terrain, forests, and the historic Via Matrone, with descents toward the Gulf of Naples and views of Ischia and Capri, all framed by the yellow blooms of the Vesuvian broom. In the 50 km race, victory went to Roberto Gheduzzi, who finished in 5h54'36''. As per tradition, finishers received wooden medals, in line with the event's sustainable mission.
