Edition 2025 — Vergato Carnival
143rd edition of the Vergato Historical Carnival
The 2025 edition marked the 143rd edition of the historic event in Vergato, in the Bologna Apennines. The main parades took place on Saturday, March 1, and Sunday, March 2, 2025, while related activities animated the town starting from the end of February.
The food stalls opened from 12:00 PM, accompanied by musical entertainment and games for children organized by the Pro Loco. From 2:30 PM, the masked parade of the Vergato carnival societies began, with the Prince of Montepetto reciting his zirudèla from the town hall balcony. Among the entertainment, the Afro-Brazilian percussion orchestra Marakatimba, the folk group Insieme per caso from Zocca, and group dances were featured. In that edition, the carnival societies adapted to the format without allegorical floats, awaiting their much-anticipated return.
