The year of choice: integration or disintegration?

From May 8th to 10th, 2025, Ventotene hosted the ninth edition of the festival created by the La Nuova Europa association, dedicated to a fundamental question: will the European Union move towards greater integration or towards disintegration? The students of the Spring School of Europe, coming from various EU countries, addressed the history of integration, European policies, and law in interdisciplinary workshops, developing proposals on what it means to be young citizens in today's Europe.

The events open to the public brought politicians, scholars, and journalists to the island in the province of Latina, including Elena Grech from the European Commission Representation in Italy. For the fourth time, the initiative received the medal of the President of the Republic, a recognition that accompanied the path towards the tenth edition in 2026.
