The 2025 summer theatre season in Venticano
The 2025 edition of the summer programme of the Municipality of Venticano, in the province of Avellino, combined classical theatre and opera in two highly acclaimed evenings.
On August 17, 2025, in the Municipal Theatre arena, the Compagnia Castalia directed by Vincenzo Zingaro performed 'The Menaechmi' by Plautus, a Latin comedy of mistaken identity that remains one of the most entertaining texts in the ancient repertoire. Admission was free, a choice consistent with the administration's desire to make theatre accessible to everyone.
On August 29, 2025, the Cavea Teatrale, with its renovated seating to improve audience comfort, hosted 'The Barber of Seville' by Gioachino Rossini, featuring the Orchestra Filarmonica Campana and the Coro Lirico I CorTesi conducted by maestro Massimo Testa. An evening that confirmed the operatic vocation of the Venticano cavea, which had already hosted titles such as 'La Traviata' and 'Carmen' in previous years.
These two events paved the way for the more structured Venticano Theatre Festival 2026.
