VeliaTeatro Festival — Montecorice in Summer

The 2025 stop of the VeliaTeatro Festival in Montecorice, in the province of Salerno, was held on August 4, 2025, in Piazza Tommaso Amoresano, in the ancient village of Ortodonico. The protagonist was Matteo Belli with the «Concert from the 6th book of the Aeneid», a reading-performance dedicated to Aeneas' descent into the underworld. As per the festival's tradition, the show was preceded by a lectio brevis by a professor, following the format that is fully maintained in Ortodonico. The evening was free of charge.

The 28th edition

The 2025 edition, titled «Nos exaequat victoria caelo» — a verse by Lucretius on the power of thought against lies and prejudice — took place over nine evenings from July 27 to September 15, involving four municipalities: Ascea, with the Arena Zenone of the Alario Foundation, Ortodonico di Montecorice, Castelnuovo Cilento with the Talamo-Atenolfi Castle, and Palinuro with the Antiquarium. The programme included Aristophanes' «Knights», Menander's «Arbitration», Lucretius' «De rerum natura», Homer's «Odyssey», and «Medea and Clytemnestra» by Dario Fo and Franca Rame. The organisation was managed by the Cilento Arte ETS association.
