The first edition of the Vatican Longevity Summit

On March 24, 2025, Rome hosted the first edition of the Vatican Longevity Summit, a congress dedicated to healthy and sustainable aging, organized by the International Institute of Neurobioethics under the patronage of the Pontifical Academy for Life. The meeting took place at the Augustinianum Congress Center Auditorium on Via Paolo VI and was sold out.

Two Nobel laureates in dialogue

The summit, titled 'Challenging the clock of time', featured the participation of two Nobel laureates — Shinya Yamanaka (Medicine 2012, pioneer of induced pluripotent stem cells) and Venkatraman Ramakrishnan (Chemistry 2009) — along with scientists and experts in genetics, biotechnology, and regenerative medicine. The proceedings were opened by the then-president of the Pontifical Academy for Life, Msgr. Vincenzo Paglia. Part of the Jubilee of Hope, this first edition laid the foundations for the dialogue between science and ethics that characterizes the Roman event.
