Vallerano PDO Chestnut Festival

The 23rd edition (2025)

From October 11 to November 2, 2025, Vallerano, in the province of Viterbo, celebrated the 23rd edition of its festival dedicated to the PDO chestnut. Four weekends of events enlivened the historic center: the historical pageant with flag-wavers, folk and country music concerts with groups like the Tuscia Outliners, grape treading and a Sunday country-style breakfast, pottery workshops, traditional flower festivals, and handmade paper workshops.

Among the most popular events were the "Camminata in Rosa" for cancer prevention, the vintage car rally with ACI, the exhibition of agricultural tractors, the "60 per Arte" collective exhibition at the Palazzo della Cultura, and guided hikes in ancient chestnut groves with the Kalipè association. The four historic cellars carved into the tufa—San Vittore, Le Botti, Amici della Castagna, and La Stoppa—served lunches and dinners with menus based on local products, closing the festival with the final parade on Sunday, November 2.
