UILT Interregional Festival "City of Nettuno"

The edition that founded the festival

The first edition of the "City of Nettuno" theatre competition took shape during the 2024/2025 season at Teatro Studio 8 in Nettuno, in the Metropolitan City of Rome. The idea was both simple and ambitious: to give amateur theatre in Central Italy a stable and competitive venue in a seaside city that slows down in winter, providing a new cultural gathering point.

The success of that first year convinced the organizers—the Liberi Teatranti & Teatranti A.P.S. association led by Giampiero Bonomo and U.I.L.T. Lazio with president Stefania Zuccari—to expand the scope of the event, transforming it in the following edition into a true interregional festival open to companies from Lazio, Abruzzo, Marche, Tuscany, and Umbria, with the patronage and financial support of the Municipality of Nettuno.

Even in this first edition, the elements that would become characteristic of the festival were present: the competition format with a technical jury, a focus on classical repertoire alongside contemporary drama, and the desire to involve local schools and young people.
