Edition 2025 — U Nummu ru Gesù

In 2025, "U Nummu ru Gesù" once again animated the night between Maundy Thursday and Good Friday in Sortino. At dawn on April 18, the statue of Christ at the Column left the Church of Santa Sofia for the traditional procession amidst torches and bonfires, accompanied by the funeral marches of local bands and a crowd of faithful in prayer. The rite concluded, as per tradition, with the Easter Meeting on the day of the Resurrection.

The 2025 edition renewed the centuries-old rite in the heart of Sortino. At dawn on Good Friday, April 18, 2025, the statue of Christ at the Column left the Church of Santa Sofia around 4:00 a.m. for the "sciuta", passing through the town's alleys illuminated by the "farate".

The procession, accompanied by funeral marches, touched the symbolic points of the route up to the Mother Church, with the characteristic "corsa della vara", and concluded with the "trasuta". On Easter Sunday, the Easter Meeting was celebrated in Piazza Quattro Canti, sealing a Holy Week deeply felt by the Sortino community.
