U Marauašce – Saint Joseph's Fires

The U Marauašce ritual is a fixed event on March 19th in Santa Croce di Magliano. In the 2025 edition, the community gathered around the great Saint Joseph's bonfire in Piazza Crapsi, lit with blessed embers after Mass, while other fires burned in the town's districts.

The feast, curated by Pro Loco Quattro Torri with the Municipality, combined devotion and peasant tradition in an evening of music, dancing, 'scarpelle', and wine offered to participants, confirming one of the most iconic rituals of Basso Molise.

As every year, the 2025 program included Mass in the Mother Church, the lighting and blessing of the mother fire in the churchyard, the great bonfire by Pro Loco 4 Torri in Piazza Crapsi, and fires in the districts, with music, 'scarpelle', and wine.
